SUNDAY WITH TRAVELKITDS AT THE ALLIGATOR FARM
When you travel to Miami, you cannot miss the Everglades! The Everglade(s) is a National Park in Florida, one of the biggest of the United States, with more than 1,5 million acres of wetlands with mangroves, sawgrass marshes, and pine Flatwoods everywhere. You can find their hundreds of species and the most famous is without any doubt the well-known alligator!
There are many options to discover the Everglades but our favorite spot with the kids is The Alligator Farm, located in Homestead, approximately 1-hour drive from Miami Beach. It’s the oldest alligator farm of the Everglades with more than 2000 alligators inside. Unlike some other places, you can be sure to see some of them!
It’s open daily from 9 am to 5.30 pm. The entry fee is $29 per adult, $22 per child from 4 to 11 and it’s free under 4. We recommend being there around 11 am to start with the alligator show and then enjoy a 20 minutes ride on a great airboat and finally see the alligator feeding show. You can easily picnic on-site, there are plenty of tables (most of them in the shade). Children can see others animals like ostriches or iguanas, and babies alligators in the alligator farm.
You need 2 or 3 hours to do everything. My children love this place and for parents, it’s just perfect because it’s not too big and not too packed! The place is adapted for strollers and you can take a baby carrier for the airboat ride.
When you leave the farm, you can stop for a fresh smoothie or milkshake at Robert is Here. You will find many exotic and fresh products and if you and your kids have still energy, there is a nice animal farm!
Enjoy the everglades and let us know what you think about the program! For more information: https://everglades.com/ |
